One of the extra bonuses of staying in Annascaul is it’s close proximity to nearby places perfect for day trips and activities. In this page lets take a quick look at Inch Beach.
Inch Beach Activities
Ten minutes drive from Annascaul village is Inch Beach. This sandy beach is around 4 miles long and is extremely popular with walkers, kite-surfers, regular surfing and other water sports. You can rent wetsuits and hire surf boards (from real surfers) as well as get surfing lessons all summer long.
For walkers, the dunes make for a nice hike if you want something a bit more interesting. You’ll also get a great view of the entire area from up there, so bring your camera. For the fishermen and women among, the beach is popular for casting.
Food and Drink
As you arrive at the beach you can pop into the old Strand hotel restaurant and bar (no longer a hotel) for refreshments, or visit Sammy’s Stores on the beach for a break in the café/bar. A little way out the road you’ll find Foley’s Bar, they also do good food and a nice pint, and sometimes a session too.
HQ Annascaul
If you’re visiting the area you can stay in Annascaul which has eight pubs, B&Bs, Hostel and Guesthouse accommodation. Again, Annascaul village is just a ten minute drive from Inch Beach, and perfertly central for visits to nearby Dingle, Tralee, Castlegregory, Camp village, Killarney and more.
